What is peripheral vision?

Peripheral vision is what you see around what you are focussing in on, this means when you are looking for your favourite brand of yoghurt, your peripheral vision is helping to direct your gaze to the right strawberry covered packaging.

Even if a product hasn’t been directly observed, it has still been evaluated by your peripheral vision. If your vision is obstructed, looking for that item becomes a whole lot harder as you are exerting more effort to tick off the items on your shopping list.

Understanding cognitive biases, such as peripheral vision, is crucial to understanding your customers better. To learn more about the brain, please click here for more articles on why we behave as we do or get in touch with us here.
